CWE Group Mobilizes Over 100 Employees for Yuanzhonggang Wetland Protection, Advancing ESG Commitments

  • To support corporate social responsibility and biodiversity conservation, Chang Wah Electromaterials Inc. (CWE, 8070), Chang Wah Technology Co., Ltd. (CWTC, 6548), and JMC Electronics Co., Ltd. (JMC, 6552) jointly organized the “Yuanzhonggang Wetland Protection Activity” on December 13, 2025. Led by CWE Group President Chih-Hung Chen, Group Strategic Advisor Canon Huang, Chairman of CWE and CWTC Chuen-Sing Hung, and JMC President Mei-Hsueh Huang, a total of 101 employees participated in the event. Held at Yuanzhonggang Wetland Park in Nanzi District, Kaohsiung City, the activity focused on wetland ecological conservation and demonstrated the three companies’ dedication to environmental responsibility.

Chairman of CWE and CWTC Chuen-Sing Hung stated that Yuanzhonggang Wetland Park is a vital ecological area in Taiwan and an important indicator of water quality and environmental health. The cleanliness of industrial wastewater, he explained, is often reflected in the state of the wetland. While the area may appear clean at first glance, many roadside ditches and surrounding areas still require hands-on efforts to remove trash and weeds. Through this initiative, the Group hopes not only to restore the wetland to a cleaner and more appealing environment, but also to raise awareness of environmental protection and contribute meaningfully to ecological conservation.

On the day of the event, employees were divided into teams to clear roadside ditches of debris and overgrown vegetation. They also removed invasive river tamarind (Leucaena leucocephala) and other aggressive plant species along wetland fences that obstructed road visibility. These efforts improved the overall wetland landscape and helped reduce plastic and waste pollution affecting local waterways. After a morning of collective effort, participants removed more than 60 large bags of waste and weeds with a total weight of nearly 520 kilograms.

Furthermore, as biodiversity and nature conservation continue to gain importance within ESG frameworks, the event also featured guided ecological tours to deepen understanding of the wetland ecosystem. Through on-site observation and explanations, participants gained deeper insight into the critical role wetlands play in urban ecosystems and biodiversity, as well as the importance of wetland and habitat protection.

CWE Group emphasized that environmental sustainability is more than a slogan. By organizing this activity, the Group aims to strengthen public awareness of the importance of wetlands and will continue to promote environmental protection and social engagement initiatives to help create a better living environment for future generations. This event also represents a meaningful collaboration among the Group’s three companies in putting ESG principles into practice, while encouraging employees to take an active role in caring for and protecting the natural environment around them.
