Chang Wah Electromaterials Inc. (Chang Wah*, 8070.tw) held a board meeting on May 6 and approved the reviewed consolidated financial report for the three months ended March 31, 2022. In the first quarter, consolidated revenue amounted to NT$5,655 million, with a gross margin of 23% and net profit attributable to owners of the Corporation of NT$592 million. Earnings per share equaled NT$0.86 with shares at a par value of $1 per share, and NT$8.6 when calculated based on shares with a par value of NT$10 each. On the whole, Chang Wah’s operating performance of the first quarter was at an all-time high for a single quarter.
On a quarter-over-quarter basis, Chang Wah’s consolidated revenue of the first quarter dropped slightly by 1%, setting the second-high record for a single quarter. Gross margin was down by 2% while still staying above 20%. Profit before income tax was NT$1,154 million, surpassing the performance in the third and fourth quarters of 2021 and rewriting the record for a single quarter. Net profit attributable to owners of the Corporation increased by 32% to be the second highest level for a single quarter.
On a year-over-year basis, consolidated revenue went up 23% while gross margin increased by 8%. Profit before income tax and net profit attributable to owners of the Corporation surged 164% and 150%, respectively.
