CWE Group Joined Taipei Exchange in Charity, Supporting the 1919 Food Bank

Taipei Exchange (TPEx) hosted the donation ceremony for the "Support from TPEx Companies to 1919 Food Bank" on September 14, bringing together companies listed on the Taipei Exchange, the mainboard and the emerging stock board to help the economically disadvantaged families as well as families in distress. CWE Chairman Canon Huang was invited to give a speech and stated that it was more blessed to give than to receive. Chang Wah Technology Co., Ltd. (CWTC) and CWE Group would strive to help the disadvantaged when the opportunity presents itself.

In his speech, Chairman Huang mentioned that the Group's participation in this charity event stirred up memories and emotions because CWTC would not have been able to raise funds without the OTC platform. CWTC went from being a company with a monthly revenue of NT$36 million to being listed on the TPEx with not only its own efforts but also support from the OTC platform, which allowed CWTC to enter the capital market, thereby gaining ground to compete with peers and carving itself a position in the industry.

Chairman Huang shared a titbit during the event. He recalled that back in 2002 when CWE, the parent company of CWTC, underwent the TPEx review, as one of its major customers was in financial crisis, a review officer questioned CWE’s business capability and asked, "how can you grant the customer such a large credit line? Do you know how to run a business?" Chairman Huang, who was the President of CWE at that time, explained promptly that the financial distress was not a result of internal frauds, but rather over-investments and the Y2K bubble, and the chairman of the counterparty was often involved in charity work. Therefore, helping the customer could be seen as a way to fulfill the social responsibility. With this story, Chairman Huang promised to uphold the spirit of "contributing to the society for support received" as it was more blessed to give than to receive. When the opportunity presents itself, not just CWTC but the entire CWE Group would strive to help the disadvantaged.
